Math Thinking Cap

I can't believe how quick the kids are with the iPads! They have truly embraced this technology! Today we had indoor recess and I had a lot of students create a picture using the app Brushes! Your finger acts like a paintbrush and the best part...it records the whole process! :) They had a lot of fun creating different paintings and sharing!

In Math we worked on the Thinking Caps! Today lesson was especially neat because it called for the kids to find out what the missing numbers were on the cards below (see picture). Except the kids couldn't move them in the book!

So, I decided to create an Explain Everything project using the cards!  In my project the students could move the cards around to solve the problem! I had them work in partners and record their thinking process. Click on the movie below to see one in action! :) I loved watching them share and listen to them collaborate with each other, not only about the math problem, but how to work through the app they were using!

I am loving every second of this opportunity and I know the kids are as well! :)
